(EP: CDR / 7″ Vinyl)
This was the first release Johan Duncanson & Martin Larsson produced as the band ‘The Radio Dept’.
In true indie fashion the record was made & distributed via the bands own home made record label, Slottet. Originally this was just a short demo on CDr (2000), but was later pressed and released on 7″ vinyl.
This EP contains 4 tracks. The title track, Against The Tide, is not to be confused with the final track, ‘We Move Against The Tide’. This record drew comparisons with the sounds of post-punk shoegaze bands like ‘the Jesus & mary chain’ & ‘My bloody valentine’, with dreamy vocals, heavy distortion and vocals drowned in a wall of sound. Each song on this record is loud & powerful. These songs would later feature on other Radio Dept records & releases.
Especially ‘Why won’t you talk about it’, which has since become a fan favourite at live shows.
