Liebling (Single / EP / 7" Ltd. Edition Vinyl LP)

Liebling (Single / EP / 7 inch Ltd. Edition Vinyl LP)

Background Information

April 28th 2003, a monumental day in the career of the Radio Dept. as this was the day that their first ever UK record was released on the London based, Rex Records.
This is an incredibly rare record, its also the only Radio Dept record not to feature the standard band font/logo.

Original Press Release

"Rex Records are proud to present their next big thing, a brilliantly dynamic
four-piece from Malmö, Sweden - The Radio Dept.

If nothing else, they should spark some pretty heated arguments. Having covered much of their delicate songwriting in distortion, white noise and reverb, the band will undoubtedly have the 'shoegaze' finger pointed straight in their direction. For some, this prospect will be welcomed with open arms, for others, however, it will be the cause of serious concern. Amongst all this strong feeling and healthy pigeonholing, The Radio Dept. will no doubt be carrying on regardless and power them we say.

Taking their name from a petrol station come radio repair shop in Lund whose sign simply reads 'Radioavdelningen' (The Radio Department in Swedish no less), Johan Duncanson and Martin Larsson founded the band a few years back and have added the rhythm section, Lisa Carlberg and Per Blomgren, on their way. Today, they are now ready to unleash their quiet storm on the world.

Already cherished in their home country, this is their first foray on a UK label and, hopefully, they'll be over for their debut UK shows this summer."
